Today started with a really long bus journey in a tiny bus! I was really lucky though and managed to get a decent seat so I didn't find it as bad as others. It was good fun though, full of sing alongs, card games and just looking at the more amazing scenery out of the window.
When we arrived in Luang Prabang it ws fairly late. Me and Candy lucked out and somehow managed to get the biggest room. We were still cosy though because whilst we're in Loas we are both paranoid about the mosquitoes and as I'm the only one with a net we're having to share it at night.
We had quite a chilled out evening getting our bearings, having a quick stroll through the night market and grabbing something to eat. I only had something small as I had a really big lunch, but what I had was the most amazing tomato soup! It tasted just like mine and my mums so I was really happy.
The moring of the next day we ewent for out 'guided' tour around the palace. We were expecting to be spending a few hours with our local guide but he wizzed round it in only half an hour and then dissapeared off. We did quickly fire twenty questions at him though so that we could actually plan what we were going to do with our day. As it happens it was actually quite manic.
After a stroll through the town we went back to our hotel and made our way to the waterfalls. Oh my gos they were beautifull. They were made up of three different levels. Personally I preferred the first one we went to as it was quiter and more pleasent to swim in. But for most of the others who were jumping and swinging off the waterfall (yes I was a wimp), they enjoyed this one more. I found it quite rocky but still was fun watching everyone else. This was untill when we got changed and was bitten by a big black ant! I couldn't believe how much a bite from such a small creature could hust and it swelled up instantly and had proper teeth marks!
When we got back we all climbed a hill that's meant to have the most amazing views of Luang Probang. We decided to do this at sunset to get the full effect. I bet you thought my day was over there oh no, we then went to see a cultural show. It wasn't as good as the one in China or India but I'm still very glad I went as I find the cultural shows are really where you learn about the heritage of the country. After the cultural show we went to have the most amazing a cheap buffet and shopped the whole way down the night market! Finally our day was over and we could rest before the morning.
The next day was definately one of my most favourite by far! It started off with an Elephant ride on a baby elephant. We got to feed them and go into the water with them. It was so amazing and the setting was stunning. It was paradise. We then went swimming in the waterfalls that were there and climbed up them. It was so much fun. We only had a short time to catch a few rays before we had to leave and get our taxi back : ( I really coould've stayed here all day!
The rest of the day was still great though. We had a quick wander through the town and then spent the afternoon chatting and drinking beer in the sunshine. I really felt like I was on holiday today! We then found out that they had a night club. So spur of the moment a group of us checked it out. There was hardly another western face in there. It was like a proper club. Scott ended up having a dance off with a very gay acting man. I can't describe how funny this was. It was something you really had to be there for. Then at the end of the night Candy got offered by this girl whether she wanted to hire her boyfriend out by the hour! Obviously Candy said no but it was just so funny and such a random night! Brillient. It was sad that we were having to leave the next day.
