Had a nice wander around the town centre by myself this morning as Marcus didn't come to the house until about 1pm.
Just had a nice walk around after eating a very expensive $21 breakfast!! It was really delicious - veggie eggs benedict (poached eggs, english muffin, hollandaise sauce, avocado, and mushrooms) - but obviously not something I will be doing again! Found a nice whole foods store just down the road too, where I bought some nice organic fruit, and some breakfast cereal :)
Marcus took me to the Gorge, which is really beautiful. I also saw where April and Simon got married, as there's a lovely large green and they have peacocks wandering around the place too. I rode the chairlift as well, which is really cute and also the longest single span chairlift in the world at 308 metres! I only took one picture with my phone, and the rest I took with my manual SLR camera so those pictures will have to wait until I get home! The gorge is apparently very stable, and is completely unique as it's almost right in the heart of the town centre. It's only about a half hour walk from Marcus' house, and the town centre! The town is almost built around it and all the waterfalls and water features are all natural. There's a swimming pool just by the bottom of the gorge too, which seems a little strange. You can swim in the gorge itself, though it is rather deep and also very brown looking because of all the silt in there. The swimming pool just looks a bit out of place sitting on the green at the bottom of a gorge, that's all :) It is quite popular though and apparently they used to swim there a lot when they were kids!
We then had a wander around the town centre too, before going to his mum and dad's house for dinner.
I had wondered what I was going to do tomorrow, and did see a place where you could see platypus and echidnea's but apparently that was quite far from Launceston and so I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't go there. However, Marcus' mum said that the museum was worth a look (though quite a bit of it is currently under construction) and I should probably have some chips down at the Seaport. I'm not going to say no to chips by the sea :D
I have booked a bus to Hobart for 6:45pm tomorrow, so have most of the day to play with but didn't want to rush around like a mad thing either so a wander around a musuem and a chip lunch sounded great. Should probably have spent more time in Launceston as there are lots of things to do there but there's a famous market called Salamanca in Hobart which is on Saturday's only, so I definitely wanted to get down there for that.
