Hi everyone! Well here it is our very first blog entry to Shiv and Ady's trip around the world! We arrived at Bangkok airport after a long 11 hour flight. Had a nightmare at the airport first of all we filled out a visa form that took ten min then got told we didn't have to fill in that form! Then we cued up at immigration for about 40 min the when we got to the desk was told we needed a landing card! We had to go and find a landing card then join the cue again at the back and cue up for another 20 min! Not what you need after a long flight, we found our rucksacks on the floor in the middle of two baggage carousels! After dodging loads of taxi people who were trying to rip of the new tourists we finally got in a meter taxi to take us to our hotel! I forgot to print off the hotel address so we got dropped off at Khoasan road and ended up spending about an hour trying to find our hotel as it was new no one knew where it was so we decided to just give in and get a tuk tuk till we found it!We headed out that night for tea and found a nice touristy restaurant and had a pretty early night!
The next day Ady got me up at 8 and he went to the pool for a swim while I stayed in bed! We then decide we would spend the day doing touristy things! We ended up getting a tuk tuk to take us round most of the places and it only cost 20 baht which is nothing really, however we think he may have been a bit of a scam artist as we ended up outside 2 travel agents, a jewellery factory and a suit factory! We went to see the golden standing Buddha which was amazing also the lucky Buddha, emerald Buddha and many other Buddha we were all Buddha'd out by the end of the day. The grand palace was amazing to see and consists of many halls and temples! That night we met up with Linda and Steve who I work with at BmiBaby. We ended up going round their area and got taken too many bars most of which consisted of go-go girls and other memorable sights! There were elephants walking down the street with flashing bike lights on their tails! The streets here smell really bad and the weather is so humid and sticky so I've given up on makeup and doing my hair already ha!
The next day we met up with Linda and Steve again and they took us to a big fishing pond were we did a spot of fishing for the morning with not much luck really! We then went to the Tesco lotus where you can buy meals from kiosks for 30p! Ady was obviously in his element here we tried all sorts of Thai food most of which was lovely! Then we all went for a Thai massage were Ady had a full body massage and me and Linda went for a foot massage which actually was a foot, legs, arms, hands, back and neck all for one pound fifty! We're going to go out tonight for a meal and then to bed as we're up early to go to a Thai market. The market we went to this morning was huge! It was on the outskirts of Bangkok called Chatuchak market one of the biggest in the world apparently with 15000 stalls! Obviously I was in my element here! The sell absolutely everything here from clothes to furniture then we saw snakes fish and puppies! It was quite sad really as we saw pug puppies there and I wanted to rescue them as they were in cages and really hot! I bought two tops from there and a dress for really cheap had to do a bit of bartering though! By 3:00 we were really hot and the market was packed so we called it a day having seen only half of it! Went back to the hotel and met Linda and Steve again who took us to a great fish restaurant. We tried many dishes and u can pick a fish out of the fish tank! We then went to cowboysoi which is a girly bar area but we were more interested in the elephants walking down the street with bike lights on their tails!
We got up early to pack our backpacks for our flight to Chiang Mai. We thought the flight was at 2:00 so we were taking our time had a leisurely breakfast then we checked the itinerary and discovered the flight was at 12:50 and it was already 11:00! Mad rush around to get packed and get a taxi to the airport! Taxi drivers can be a nightmare they say they don't know where you mean even though you point to the airport on the maps so after 10 min we were finally on our way to the airport! The flight was delayed for an hour which wasn't to bad flight was good same planes as we use at BmiBaby so felt a little weird! Didn't get chance to book a hotel because of the mad rush to get to the airport so we arrived in Chiang Mai with not a clue were to go! We got the holy bible out (the lonely planet) and just picked a guesthouse out of it!
