We decided to again do the scenic route down South through a place called the Catlins, to get to the most Southern most city called Invercargill. The scenery again was really good and when you're driving you often don't see a car for age's just lots of sheep! We had arranged to stay in a hostel when we got to Invercargill but when we arrived I found out Ady had booked us into a nice hotel for my birthday. The hotel was great and even had a cinema room where you can pick a DVD and watch it to yourself on a big cinema screen. That night we made ourselves some tea then went to the cinema room and watched a DVD with wine and chocolates. The next day was my birthday but when I woke up I didn't feel too good. After speaking to Aimee, mum and dad we decided to go out anyway to visit a place called Bluff. This is the most southern place in New Zealand but unfortunately probably the most boring place too! We drove to Bluff and it was pouring down with rain. We got out the car got our pictures took with the signpost then got back in the car and drove back to the second most boring place Invercargill! When we got back I still wasn't feeling well so I ended up spending my birthday in bed! The next day I felt really ill and knew that I had the New Zealand Flu that's been going around. I ended up having to stay in bed a few days feeling sorry for myself. We then decided to drive to a town called Te Anau as we wanted to go to Doubtful Sounds or Milford sounds which our supposed to be great. You go on a boat for the day and go through areas were the views are spectacular and mountains are on the both sides of the river, you get to see dolphins and lots of other wildlife. We stayed in the Youth Hostel in Te Anau and I told the receptionist I wasn't feeling great and she gave me a hot water bottle and blanket which was really nice. We didn't get chance to do the boat trip as I wasn't feeling up to it and then I got struck down with tonsillitis! I had to go to the emergency doctors as it felt like I was swallowing glass and he confirmed I had flu and tonsillitis and gave me antibiotics to take for ten days!
We stayed two days in Te Anau then we decided to go to a bigger city as all the places we had been when I was ill were really quiet and it was a bit boring for Ady! We decided to head to Queenstown the next day so I could get myself better and get ready for some pure adrenalin!!!!
