The smell of Tapas in the air did not really help the hunger from the 2 hour flight and 1 hour bus journey into the rather cosmopolitan city of Barcelona. As well as the fact that at the moment my shoulders have yet to adapt to the constant weight of 16kg on my back...maybe I might shrink by the time I get back...hopefully not (i´m short already!)
The Guesthouse is pretty awesome, room may be a bit small, but free internet, breakdfast and a hot shower can definately sway me to a positive mood. I can´t wait to discover the city later on...it should be pretty sweet.
It´s amazing how much we´ve walked, and I´m not going to lie, my feet hurt like hell! We´ve both begun to understand why people were telling us you can´t visit Barcelona in 2 days, but in all honesty, we think we´ve done a pretty good job.
Walking down the streets, there just all seems to be some kind of comparison with London...why can´t London have roads lined with Palm Trees? Or incredible churches that really mess with your imagination? Huge green spaces (not saying Hyde Park isn´t huge) but national parks within walking distance of the city....
It´s awe inspiring.
Barcelona at night is quite an interesting site. The legendary Gothic district is actually pretty cool, mainly lined with different Bars and Tapas resturants putting across the full Caliente feel that the Barcelona Atmosphere lives with. Yet it is the Ramblas that is pretty interesting.
Night clubs, Dance halls, Bordellos. A kingdom, a road of night time pleasures. Where the rich and powerful seemingly come to play with the young and beautiful creatures of the underworld. The music eminating from all different corners, streets lined with women approaching you, and at times its just a bit weird. We slightly high tailed it off that Palm Tree´d lined haven onto the actual street to avoid the propositions.
It was real.
