We have moved again, last stop Tokyo, Japan!
Only been here for a few days so its been a bit of a flying visit. Got here on Wednesday night to find it is absolutly freezing here, 8 degrees when we landed! Bit of a shock to the system after 4 months in the sun, we only realised the day before we came and had already binned our other long pants that we thought we would'nt be needing any more! Mistake, we have had to wear the same ones for 3 days running with every item of clothing we could layer up no matter what colour, lovely, now we really do feel like proper travellers!
We got into our room to find it was made for some very small people. Theres no room in the toilet to swing a cat and when you flush it the tap runs automaticaly, weird! The beds are like the ones belonging to snow white's seven dwarfs, luckily we are only small so can fit quite snuggly into them.
First day after taking ages to put our layers on and working up the courage to go outside, we went upto Shibuya. This is the trendy part of Tokyo and the bit you see on all the pictures. Emma found a toilet that had a heated seat and Amy found one that had a remote control pad on the side for all your bathroom needs! We then caught the underground (the most confusing one we have been on and we've been on quite a few!) upto Ginza, this is the posher side with lots of expensive designer shops lining the street. Needless to say we could'nt afford anything there so did'nt stay long.
Today we have been on a trek and a half trying to sqeeze everything in. First we went upto the imperial palace for a nosey/ pictures, then onto our final temple of the trip (we have now seen enough to last us a lifetime!) and also around the stall lined streets leading upto it. Onto Harajuku next, we had been told that the harajuku girls hung around the park, unfortunatly we did'nt see any it must have been too cold out. We did however end up on hike after coming out of the park the wrong side nowhere near the station, eventually ended up at Shinjuku which is miles away so we will include this in the list of places we visited even though we were freezing and tired by this point so were'nt really interested! We recharged our batteries a bit on the train and stopped off in the electronics district, streets lined with every electrical gadget you could ever want!
Now we are back in our hostel with all our sightseeing finished, getting ready for our last night in a strange bed on our last full day together, boo hoo.
So thats it!
After 112 days, visiting 8 countries, going to 21 destinations, taking 14 flights, countless buses and boats ,sleeping in 29 beds (and 1 floor of a tent) and trying to work out the value of 8 different currencies, we are coming home!!!
Can't wait to see everyone and make you all jealous with what will be left of our tans! Happy Christmas!
