June 1 - 4, 2015 Gauteng & surrounds
I was welcomed at Oliver Thambo airport by Ray & Darrell after an uneventful but long day. Home for dinner, intros to Rays pride & joy Pumba the 4x4, catch up with Darrell & Linda and a good nights sleep.
Over the next couple of days we sorted out a few car jobs, did some Mall crawling & shopping & caught up with one of Rays 3rd cousins that Facebook had facilitated meeting. Cousin Lorna & husband Willi opened up their lovely home to us. They live fairly near Krugersdorp on a 75 acre section with livestock that include black & blue wildebeest, emus, springbok & blesbok, geese, ducks and an assortment of birds & dogs. Lots of lively discussion surrounding the Family tree & 'filling in the gaps' ensued with a lunch break into Krugersdorp to surprise a pharmacy school colleague !!!!! And what a surprise that was to him too.
A cold night was warmed by a large fire in the outside 'Boma' / 'Lapa & delicious bbq/ braai.
Thursday dawned bright, clear and cold. Off we went to get Pumbas keys programmed before heading down to the Vaal dam (about an hours drive south from Johannesburg) to meet Darrel & Linda for the week end. We got ahead of the traffic and cruised along beautifully. Pumba certainly goes well. We had a pleasant meal out & a delightful nights sleep. Cosy, comfy and quiet!!!
