23 - 24th April - two nights in bangkok!
We are writing this from Camodia but thought we would update our goings on from Bangkok. Said goodye to my mum and dad early on the 23rd to get the bus to Bangkok - took 4 and a half hours and only cost 75p each!Â
Got to Bangkok and then checked into our hotel not far from Khao San Road - it cost a fiver a night was clean but tiny and the walls were paper thin, someone sneezed and i thought they in the room with us! Needless to say we didnt get much sleep and we shared our shower with a colony of ants, there is a photo - i was good mum didn't demand to go to a hotel!
We have previously been to Bangkok so decided not to do all the temples again - thankgod as the heat here is unbearable - has been 45°C - unbelievable! So we went down to the river and hired a long tail boat and driver for an hour which took us down a few khlongs (canals) around Bangkok. Was nice to see a different side, plus it was cooler!Â
After which we met a monk called suck (don't laugh!) who stopped us for a chat. Didn't do anything our first night just went down Khao San Road for a few drinks and people watching! There are loads of people here who should have gone home along time ago!  We didn't really like Khao San - it wasn't what i thought, maybe it was the intense heat.Â
Next day we took the river express and sky train to visit Siam Square and the giant swing. We then went for a walk but fell for the tuk tuk scam, (god knows how as we are so aware of it! - i know what you are thinking dad!)Â
Decided Bangkok was far too hot to do anything else so went down Khao San Road that night and met Khao San's very own Jack Sparrow, he owned a stall on the road and we watched him when he packed up for the night off to find the Black Pearl, he really looked like jack Sparrow had a coat and a pistol and everything!
read the next blog for our never ending journey to Camodia!
Oh dad before we got on the river express we made a visit to the tourist office and they had all this boards explaining the songkran destival what it meant etc.... and then at the end had a sign saying what you should do over songkran and then a sign saying what you shouldn't do! We took a photo of the sign saying what not to do as we did everything on it when we were all there!  We only did about 2 things on "the what you should do" sign!
