Hey guys!! Yes we actually made it and the 14 hr flight wasn´t that bad! The climate takes some getting used to as it peaks to 34degrees most days and has very little wind! We arrived at our hostel in Botofogo after a very adventurous taxi drive and was greeted by some very cool staff at El Misti Hostel. We quickly wanted to get to the beaches of Copocobana and Ipanema and wow they actually do look like all the postcards! And the pretty boys are all so so gorgeous!
We´ve been up Sugar Loaf mountain to watch the sunset and made it all the way to the top of Christ the Redeemer despite our taxi driver believing that third was a suitable hill climbing gear! We have now moved on to a hostel in Copacabana to be nearer said pretty boys and will be moving on to Foz do Iguazu in a few days.
We also took a day trip into Santa Teresa which is right in the middle of Rio, we had heard was a nice little get away. We eventually stumbled across a tiny little tram station in the middle of the big high rises of central Rio and jumped on for about 10 pence each. The tram rumbled out over the city and up to Santa Teresa. We had a wander round and found some ruins (Parque de Ruins) which had been restored so that they were safe but kept the original brick work and had been made into an art gallery downstairs. This had some fanastic views from the top and we seemed to have it all to ourselves.
Until next time,
Lots of Love
Alex and Tom
