Phew! Cyclone Anthony swung south and didn't quite reach its predicted strength, so we had no problems flying to Cairns. Unfortunately, there's an even bigger one, Yassi, expected to hit Cairns later on the week.

With that in mind we've booked our trip to the Great Barrier Reef for tomorrow before the trip becomes impassable.

We checked in at our 2nd hostel if the trip - Caravella - which, unfortunately, is more of a typical backpackers place. We were definitely spoiled in Noosa! Here, we had to change rooms 4 times to find a room with air-conditioning that was quieter than a jumbo jet on take off. Still, alls well that ends well and we now have a whole family appartment to ourselves at no extra charge.

Our hotel also gives free dinner vouchers at Cairns' most raucous nightspot - the Woolshed. Even better it's Sexy Sunday tonight where ladies are "encouraged" to model their finest lingerie for cash prizes. Unfortunately, there were no takers tonight and after an hour of waiting, Julie forcibly removed Dean. Probably for the best though, as we need to be up early tomorrow for our trip...
