Ok so it has been a few days since the last update. Since getting to Ko Samui we have done a lot of relaxing, we spent three nights in the hostel there, and had our first real day in the sun, let's just say Seems has turned a complete different colour, and Sheens turned a shade darker, but no-where near to what Seems is. (Damn her for being in America for 2 months to give her a head start!)As it was too hot to do anything we took the opportunity to sit, eat, drink and do nothing for our whole time there, its' not like we had been like that at home for the past month or so!! We found a lovely little restaurant but Seems had been put off eating Thai food, so had Pizza two nights running but she liked it so it was all good. The night before leaving we had a few guests to say goodbye to us in our room, in the form of lizards, which freaked Sheens out quite a bit, she shouldn't have been so scared they left after half an hour once their party had finished on out ceiling. So that pretty much summed up Ko Samui, on Sunday 14th September we took the ferry across to Ko Phangan, lucky for us the day we chose to travel seemed to be the hottest day so far and we had to sit in the sweltering heat for 45 minutes as there was no room inside the boat. As we boarded we were given tickets in the form of square stickers which were stuck on us by the Mr Man anywhere he could find space. For Seems this happened to be her forearm, and after having a little snooze on the boat and awaking later she found a nice square tan on her arm, well she had a snooze and that's what happens...funny tans!! It does look quite funny!! And then we got fleeced by the Tuk Tuk taxi man!! We asked him to drop us at a hostel and he said yeah fine so filled up his van and we were on the move, well he took us to a taxi compound and left everyone there, I asked him where the hostel was he said three minutes away, so we got our bags on our backs and started to walk. Let us just paint the picture, it was about 35 degrees and we both had 20kgs on our backs plus our hand luggage to then only find out that the silly taxi man had thrown our bags on the roof of the taxi and damaged our day sacks that attached to our main rucksack, so we had to improvise and try and fix them temporarily. We started walking for about five minutes in the direction he told us to go, and came to a dead end, so had to turn around, we thought there would be someone to help us at the Police station nearby but nope, they didn't speak English!! So we went back to the taxi compound and asked them to take us to the hostel. So we got in another Tuk Tuk and were on our way....whoop! We got dropped off on the side of a mountain road where there was a little sign that said Silvery Moon (the hostel name) and an arrow pointing downwards, so we followed it for about ten minutes into the dark woods where we encountered numerous animals including peacocks, chickens, dogs, cats and frogs!! It was an eventful trek, and finally we got to the reception and asked for a room. At first they weren't going to give one to us as it was the day of the Full Moon Party, and they wanted people to stay at least three nights, well let's just say there was a heated discussion between the German owner and Sheens, and then he let us stay just for the one night like we wanted. Well after the fiasco of the journey there we crashed on the beds in the most uncomfortable, humid room in the world, why doesn't every room in Thailand have air con? We then got up and had yet another cold shower seeing as apparently you don't get hot water in hostels. (Bring on Oz!!) We then went to join the rest of the people from our hostel in the dining area where there was lots of drinking and body painting going on. We then managed to fit about 17 people into a Tuk Tuk, the most unstable form of transport we have ever been in going up and down the steep hills, needless to say we were not exactly going slowly, there was one girl sitting next to Seems who was praying for her life!! (We were laughing at her a bit.)We then got to Haad Rin where the party is held, and made our way to the beach where the whole beach is lined with bars, music and entertainers. We danced our little feet off to the hard house for longer than we expected as we both don't like that sort of music!! Later on we nearly had a moment of madness where we were going to take part in one of the activities, a huge skipping rope managed by two young Thai boys, but there was a catch, the rope was on fire, and the more and more we watched people do it, the more we saw people's clothes and skin get burnt, so we opted out of that one!! We then went to watch the fireworks which were being lit too close for comfort, the sparks were getting put out on the beach. We don't think there are any health and safety regulations anywhere in Thailand. So that bring us to the journey back from the Full Moon Party, we had told the Tuk Tuk man where we wanted to go and then sat there waiting for him to fill up his car. As more and more people started to get on we kept asking if we could leave, then this German guy put his really really really drink friend on the back and kept saying please make sure he gets to his hostel, his friend was clearly wasn't that nice as he went back to the party!! Well we finally got moving and the very very very drunk guy decided to hang off the back of the car for funsies which made everyone else in the car a little bit uneasy!! Luckily we were the first people to get dropped off, but then had to make our way back through the woods which was not pleasant in the pitch dark, that goodness we had a torch with us J
