Kas - 3 May
Kas was my favourite!
Day 35
We arrived in Kas and dropped our luggage at the boat. We then had a couple of free hours to have lunch and explore.
We had lunch at a cafe where we met an Aussie who runs www.backpackersailing.com His tours of Greece sound wonderful so made a note of the address for future trips!
I also had baklava with ice cream which is even better then just baklava - aahh bliss!
We boarded the boat - Selin 3 (www.kasgulet.com) and immediately set sail for a cove for the night. Most of us decided not too swim when we arrived as it was a bit chilly but the scenery was stunning with Lycian ruins all around us.
The meals on board were amazing! This man can really cook! He said of we came back again he'd teach us how.
I slept up on the top deck that night as the rooms were dusty and tiny, and it was beautiful seeing millions of stars all around.
Day 36
The next day we sailed to the tiny village of Simena where a few of us scaled the hill to the ruins at the top and amazing views of the coast and islands.
This place really was paradise!
We also cruised over the sunken Lycian cities covered in beautiful green water, but difficult to make out any details.
We stopped at another spot and swam in the cool Mediterranean. Amazed at the saltiness and how easy we floated.
We were all sad to return to Kas later that afternoon but discovered it also to be a beautiful and quaint town with alley ways filled with lovely (but pricey) jewelry, clothing and souveneirs.
That evening our tour leader had a suprise for us. He walked us to a 3rd century BC Lycian amphitheatre and brought out some wine and cheese he'd hidden in his bag.
Cindy in our group is a Chinese opera singer and she serenaded us as the sun set.
We also had gorgeous views o I the town and out to Meis a Greek island nearby ...
I'm now warming to our tour leader as he's finding his feet - and do feel a little sorry for him!
We had dinner back in town by the squa and watched dogs & children play there side by side, then watched many people join in a game of soccer.
We had a terracotta pot dinner - where they cook a casserole in a sealed jar and open it at your table.
Then desert at an ice cream shop - which apparently might be made of goats milk? Which might be better for my allergies as know I'm allergic to cows milk.
A couple of mojitos at Queens bar where Susie and I had a dance on our own - first night out like that in all our holiday!
Day 37
After breakfast we left for a long day of travel, heading for Konya.
Driving along with the coast I'm nauseous from all the bends but amazed you can see from the sea up to snow capped mountains in the distance!
