Sabaidee!
Despite the warning in the guide book I made it to Laos in one piece on Laos Airlines!!!
So far we're finding it a lot more relaxed like Cambodia and a lot friendlier :-)
There's a lot of french influence (food architecture etc) and french visitors even which is a nice change.
Vietnam was good but very busy and not sure if it's made it to the news in Oz but the flooding I spoke of in Hanoi was the worst they'd had in 2 decades! Here I was cruising around the streets with water in some areas almost up to my crotch and thinking that was a normal monsoon season for them?!
Brendan and I had time out today so I headed off to the market in the morning on my lonesome for a wander around ... haven't really been buying much as some things aren't all that cheap, some things aren't really our fashion, and it's exhausting bartering down for a decent price! A pair of shorts I looked at in a market in Vietnam started at 250,000 ($25) dong and ended up at 80,000 ($8) with me still walking off to see if a cheaper deal could be found?
I did have an awesome1 hour foot massage today 30,000 ($6) kip - I was a bit hesitant on getting the full body massage after the incident in Saigon where the little Vietnamese lady was rubbing herself all over my back then went for a walk along it! I think it will be similar to the Thai style of massage here which is more like a yoga workout and massage in one!
We're hoping to get the bus to Vang Viang in the morning which is a big backpacker hangout - spoke to one Aussie guy about it yesterday and not sure if it's our scene but will head there and find out.
Love u all xoxoxo
