Venice - 14-16 May

Day 10 (continued) -
We loved it as soon as we arrived and paid the 30 € for a 48 hour ferry card.

First night we wandered the streets finding the main sights of Rialto Bridge and San Marco square. We had dinner at a friends (Serena's) suggestion which was in a local area and off the beaten track (osteria da cadrona) food was good but service terrible! We put it down to them having a bad night!

Day 11 -

Breakfast at our hotel then ferry to murano.

It was very quiet arriving at 1030 and we wandered the glass shops - not loving anything but the expensive pieces.

Later a ferry to Burano famed for lace but also with lace shops and we had lunch and shopped some more.

Unfortunately it was quite overcast and rainy which made it quite cold but good for atmospheric photos!

We had a delicious dinner near the hotel the went for a wander to San Marco square which we found to be flooded!!! The enterprising sellers (they mostly look from African or Indian decent and who usually are flogging off selfie sticks!) were selling plastic bag looking boots to protect your shoes! I skipped these taking off my shoes instead and wandering through the water and of course rubbish to enjoy the flooded streets.

Day 12 -

Sue left after breakfast for the airport and I went to the Dogues Palace then did some shopping - bought a Desigual bag as had been eyeing these off in every city of been to!!!

I got a 620pm shuttle to Slovenia.
