He says: We're leaving Koh Lanta today and heading back to Bangkok for the night before taking the red eye to Istanbul on Saturday. Our time here has been really great. We've met some really nice folks along the way including California newlyweds Josh and Sarah, and Gus and Karla from the land down under. We've spent the last three days riding a scooter around the island, exploring and taking in the sights. We ate at a great restaurant called Fresh located in Old Town where we dined like royalty for only a few bucks. They had ridiculously good pad thai for 80 baht ($2.65 CDN). We took a thai cooking class the other night and got to make a few recipes - I'm a pretty bad cook and my fussy eating habits proved eating some ingredients such as fish paste difficult, but still had a good time. We also finally checked out the elephant farm and made friends with a couple of the large beasts. The last few days have also brought concern as well, as Shauna got bitten (more grazed) by a monkey at the Lanta Monkey School while we were feeding the tiny creatures bananas. Rabies is a pretty big problem in SE Asia and we wanted to ensure that she wasn't bitten by the outbreak monkey. We talked to two vets from England at the animal shelter who took a look at the wound, washed it out with alcohol, and scrubbed it out. They said weren't concerned. We also talked to the owner of the monkey school who provided all the documentation proving that the monkey has all of its shots. Also, a big thanks to Shauna's dad and brother Chris for looking into it as well. We're both relieved that she's ok.

Kim Delighted to hear all is well and Shauna has no need to worry! Hopefully she has lost the "bug" as well. Looking forward to some Asian meals chez S&M upon your return! Keep the updates coming; they're wonderfull:) Xxoo
Aunt lisa What a scare... I am so glad that everything checked out ok! Other than the monkey bite it sounds like you had a great week. Next stop Turkey!
Josh I'm going to keep reading from here, of course, but wanted to say 'hello', all's well and thanks for the shout-out from Josh & Sara. We're back in LA and jet-lag free. We truly enjoyed meeting you both. Koh Lanta was a highlight of the trip. I'll think of Matt's skills as I do my best in the 'Time For Lime' apron and hope Shauna remains un-rabid. I look forward to reading about the rest of your trip! Best, Josh (and Sara)
