She says: It's not too original a thought, but I think Santorini is one of the most gorgeous places on earth. It's got it all...mountains, incredible beaches, breathtaking landscapes, quaint little towns, and most important for me, well cared for, friendly stray cats.
We were really lucky as our ship was the only one here today. I guess Santorini can be completely overrun with three or four huge ships in port in one day, but it was actually relatively quiet.
A day gives you a nice little glimpse at Santorini, we were able to sleep in and still able to visit both Thira and Oia. However, we will certainly be back here. It's an incredible island and one afternoon exploring didn't give us enough time to watch one of the famous sunsets or hit a red, white or black sand beach.
We had a lovely explore of both Thira and Oia, including a 30 minute Segway ride around Oia. Unfortunately, my ear started to REALLY hurt. As I suspected, diagnosis: ear pimple may not have gotten to the bottom of things.
We are now back in familiar quarters, the ship's Medical Centre in the bowels of the ship. We have to wait for someone to get a cast and someone else to get stitches, so I'm thinking we'll be here for a while yet. This is an especially big bummer for two reasons: one, I only ever seem to feel well for a couple of days and then something else goes wrong and I'm sad to be feeling rotten again. I can't even close my jaw, my ear is so painful. Two, this is a big bummer because we had invited Lulu and Deirdre over for drinks on our balcony tonight. They're supposed to be joining us in about half an hour. Matt has scurried off to let them know that drinks ate on hold.
Blargh. At least there are beautiful things to look at, even though I feel like junk.
Oh, and as you can see in the picture with this post, I had a glorious 30 minute session with some professional doctor fish in Thira today. These were tiny little guys, but I gave them a great, dry skin meal from my feet. Next time we come back, I'm sure these little runts will be big, healthy fellows!

Kim My fingers are crossed that the ear problem is resolved. Never a pleasant thing to experience but an especially unfortunate and painful episode when travelling...xxoo
Aunt Lisa Amazing place! You are so lucky it was quiet...it was over run with ships the day we were there and wasted a lot of time waiting for buses and well over an hour to take the cable car down. I soooooo want to go back there!
