Went to bed about 9pm last night in readiness for the day ahead. Shuttle bus was picking us up at 6am and we both woke up just before 5am. It was too early for our free hotel breakfast but instead they gave us a 'breakfast box'. When we got to the airport we had a picnic. We are very high tech now as we both had our boarding passes on our phones which we thought would be replaced at the desk with paper ones but they got us through every checkpoint.
The flight was very smooth but 13 hours is a long time to amuse yourself no matter how many diversions you have. The next test was to make it from Heathrow to St Pancras to catch our train north. The plane was 30mins late landing due to it being busy so we were in a stack waiting. Then miles of walking to the tube. We made it with an hour to spare so finished off with a beer at the station, where Nick came and joined us on his way home from work.
Just managed to stay awake on the train, the fear of ending up in Sheffield was a horrifying thought.
Arrived in the door 24hrs after getting up........and it's still Tuesday.
A brilliant holiday, need to start planning the next one now!!
