Today is Anzac Day in Australia a public holiday. This is a day when the troops of the 1st world war from both Australia and anew Zealand are honoured across the country. The serious bit starts at dawn with memorial services starting at about 5.00am then the armed forces parade through the streets with bands. In Sydney there was a fly past of 3 airforce planes. Woke up this morning hoping for nice weather, couldn't have got better. Wall to wall blue from dawn till dusk. So good we couldn't even play spot the cloud! Got picked up at 7.45am from the hotel for a trip up to the Blue Mountains. What a fantastic trip. We left Noosa about 9.30am for the drive to Brisbane. Arrived about noon. Another perfect day with cloudless sky's and temperatures about 26C. Brisbane is a lovely city. In the central area the streets are set out in a grid system and all the north south ones are male names and the east west are female names, so finding your way around is easy. After our early start for Frazer island yesterday we took things easy this morning. Again the sun was out and the sky was blue. We had a leisurely breakfast then Bill and Sue took us out in the car to show us the area. We drove south along the coast as far as Mooloobara where we stopped and had a coffee then returned to Noosa where we had a couple of hours on the beach.
