Saturday 22nd October - left lighthouse and continued along highway 1. Stopped at Maverick beech to see if there were any of the giant waves, but it was dead flat :-( Followed highway all the way up to San Francisco, saw bridge as we drove in. Walked around up and down some of the steep hills you see on tv. Are staying here for 2 days so hireing bikes tomorrow to ride accross Golden Gate bridge, then going to Alcatraz on Monday.

Friday 21st October- Left Monterey and continued to drive up coast following highway 1. Stayed overnight at the base of the lighthouse. There were around 9 others at the hostel, one guy named Mike from Seattle cooked tacos for most of us.

Thursday 20th October - spent the day in Monterey today, the weather was overcast for the first time since we got to the US. Spent the morning in the Aquarium, was a really interesting place. Spent the afternoon walking along the coast road, there were lots of seals and hundreds of birds, saw some pelicans, a humming bird and loads of different gulls. Staying in Monterey again tonight them travelling further up the coast towards San Francisco tomorrow.

Tuesday 19th October - We left Mojave at 6am in the dark. I'm blaming the dark for the reason I turned round a corner on the wrong side of the road, almost giving both Dai and the guy in the oncoming car a hear attack. We drove about 3 hours to get to the coast at California and then drove just over 100 miles along Highway 1, the Pacific Coast Highway. The views while driving along this road are amazing, it would be a great ride to do on a motorbike, theres not ...

Tuesday 18th October - Left Hurricane in Utah, now going to do a 2 week loop of California ending up in Las Vegas on Halloween. Had our first look at Las Vegas as we drove past but didn't stop as we'll be back on the 31st. Carried on past the bottom of Death Valley were the temperature outside the car was 85 degrees. Turned off the Intersate at Barstow and drove along Route 66 for around 2 miles, its only took us 2 weeks to find it :-) Staying in Mojave tonight...
