Left Missouri today, through Kansas City and onto Hays, Kansas. Landscape rally flat, road stretches ahead as far as you can see. Staying overnight in Hays, location of Hays fort, where Custer and Bill Hickock were based. Have to be up early tomorrow as going to go for an 11 and a half hour drive to Colorado.

A long driving day today to get accross to Colorado. Left Kentucky, through Indiana, on to Illinous and now in Missouri just outside St Louis. I put the wrong hotel in the sat nav and it took us into downtown St Louis, it looked really rough and was really relieved to find I had another 50 miles to travel to my correct hotel. Not many pictures added today as spending the next 3 or 4 days just driving to get accross to Colorado. Left Virginia, entered into West Virginia, while travelling down i64 we saw a very recently killed black bear at the side of the road. Since leaving Boston on Wednesday we have been driving through mountains and trees, the trees are now starting to thin out and the mountains are alot lower. Left Maryland today, drove through the corner of West Virginia and then into Viginia and onto the Skyline drive, this is a 100 mile drive along the tops of a mountain range, the maximum speed limit is 35mpg, so it takes a while to get through (http://www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvisit/driving-skyline-drive.htm). Still in Knoxville today, walked a few miles of the Appalachian Trail, then did a walk called Maryland Heights, in all walked about 10 miles. Leaving Maryland tomorrow for Virginia
