We left the campsite on Monday, heading towards Dargaville, further down the West coast. we looked around the museum there while we waited for our car to have a service then headed towards the next campsite a litte further south at Gillys Gully. When we got there, apart from a German couple in a camper van the place was deserted.
We decided to stay anyway as it was getting really windy and looking like it was going to rain, we decided to put the tent close to the kitchen building to try and shield it from the wind. By the time we got the tent up and had some food, the wind seemed to be gail force and it had started to rain.
When we finally got into the tent I thought the thing was going to blow away the wind was so strong, then just as I was finaly about to go to sleep a noise of something smashing in the kitchen, we presummed the wind had just blown something over so ignored it. Then after what seemed like ages I finally started to go to sleep again and I could here some animal making a sort of growling noise outside the tent. I woke Dai who had managed to get to sleep and sent him out to have a look what it was. When he went into the kitchen there was a possum there that then run between the ceiling and the roof (smashing a glass as he went) as it
was a semi open kitchen, he called me to take a look at it, it seemed really small to be making such a noise. Dai threw a few things at it then, hit it square on with this thick book that knocked it clean through to gap and we heard it hit the floor after falling about 8 foot, just what it deserved I though after frightening my half to death.
Anyway its Tuesday today, we are going to visit the Kuari tree musuem then head back to the East coast where the weather is warm, have had enough of the cold, windy weather and mental possums on the East coast.
