Sun 17th April: We flew Lima - Foz de Iguassu Brazil. Using lots of flights now- trying to cram in as much as possible for Dad. My rucksack was tampered with again! Lock broken but nothing missing as nothing was worth taking!

Foz is a border town on the Brazilian side of the falls- its a horrible wee place but serves its purpose as gateway to the amazing waterfalls. We had nothing planned or booked but managed to find our way there eventually by taking a local bus to Cataratas (£1)- easy and cheap. The brazilian side was immense- a bus goes around, you can hop on/off. Lots of great walking trails and some of the most amazing nature ive ever seen. The biggest bluest butterflies and hummingbirds made my day! We also kept coming across these animals called 'coatimundi'- scary rodent like racoons that are rabid and not scared of humans!

The Falls- ive seen many beautiful waterfalls in my life but I was not prepared for how beautiful, vast and amazing Iguassu would be. We walked for hours taking it all in but the heat was hard work!

We left the national park and a guy offered us a lift- I was nervous but he offered a good price for taking us over the border to Argentina and sorting our passports etc...All worked out well.

We made our way to a hostel in Puerto Iguassu, the town on the argentinian side of the falls. Again, not the nicest town and very overpriced. The next morning we took a local bus to the falls to view the from this side. In hindsight it probably wasnt necessary to do this but we thought since we'd only ever visit them once, then we may as well do both sides. The Argentinian side has a cool wee train and lots of pathways. You can also get a lot closer to the falls- actually got pretty soaked at one point! The best part on this side is the 'Devils Throat'- fierce powerful falls- incredible!

Next stop Rio!!!!! Very anxious at this point as we have been unable to book any accomodation due to a lack of availability because of Easter- hope we dont have to sleep on copacabana beach!!! xxx
