Wake up relatively fresh, get some breakfast and then head down to a random surf shop to get our surf on! Find this place for a reasonable price so booked on to do a lesson as well for 11am - which when we walked away the guy rode up to us on his bike and said it would be 1pm instead. Went back to the hotel and chilled at the pool and then headed off for our lesson with a local guy called Bahtiar. Had to ride to get there which was a big thing for Rhi as she hated bikes so I had her on the back on the way to the beach in Kuta we were surfing at. Stunning views on the way brought back amazing memories of Vietnam riding bikes and riding through the awesome views. Get to the beach and it is up there with Koh Rong and Koh Tao as my favourite beach it was lush. Started our lesson on the beach learning how to push up and then got in the water. We picked it up real quick and were loving it when we had a quick break we were dying to get back in and do it again, such an addictive hobby you want to go again and again. Finished few hours later and were hooked! Met 2 girls from the UK on the beach and Bahtiar said there was a party tonight and for us all to join which we did. Got some food before and then headed to the Sunset Bar in Kuta Lombok. Real busy bar with a live band great atmosphere. At our dinner we were getting hassled as per by the kids for bracelets it really is so persistent and annoying, managed to lose them at the restaurant but they worked there way to the bar and were hassling this Australian couple. We were having a bit of banter and then started drinking together. Sam and Loz were on their honeymoon they got married in Bali a few weeks ago, seriously cool couple! Drinks flowing and then things got messy, Sam took me on his bike to my hotel to get more money out and yeah, things got messy! Towards the end the locals got on the arak which is a deadly alcohol which can kill and the way they were on it was scary to say the least. Completely out of their mind drunk had to keep a eye over your shoulder at all times. Another party was happening further down so Sam took turns taking us to it Rhi and Loz first and then back for me. Cannot walk on these streets it is so dodgy out here locals on every corner in the dark frequent muggings and assaults happen here daily. Sam had an incident with some Muslim locals that were doing the slit the throat threat on their necks to Sam and Loz. Absolute c*** basically they were in the remote part of Kuta. This party was cool good atmosphere we were smashing back the g and t's for fun, this guy off his absolute t*** on mushrooms we were looking after he couldn't get away from a wooden beam on the dance floor claiming it was his 'best mate' haha! f***in funny but we took care of him with water etc. Me and Rhi were dancing when we came outside to some commotion with Sam, some locals and 2 of the guys with the lad f***ed on shrooms. One of his mates smacked a local, so the local proceeded to smash a bottle and try to stab him. Serious s*** fair play to Sam he somehow avoided anything happening. That obviously had us all on edge with all the locals on arak anything could have happened. Sam took us all back to the hotels we were staying at and then out of the way of anything else. Scary s*** out here when the locals get mad especially with a broken bottle luckily everyone was ok. Weird end to a decent day!
