Hey all, hope your all well. My first set of pictures are now up for you to look at. They start in Dubai where we spent a day seeing the sights. We went to the 7 start hotel and the beach right next to it, also we to Dubai Marina. Dubai's a pretty amzing place with new skyscrapers being built all over the place. We also went out to the palm, which is a complex built out into the sea, and from the sky looks like a palm tree, though most of it is still under contruction like Dubai in general. We went to Wild Wadi water park in the afternoon which was brilliant, they have waterslides that fire you up hill in rubber rings which made a bit of a changed, saved you having to walk up millions of steps each time, i'm lazy i know.
We then had the joy of a 18hr flight to New Zealand which was a bit of a killer and we finally arrived in Christchurch. Whilst in Christchurch we visited the Antartic Centre which had a Artic Storm machine, which was a really good laugh. After spending a couple of days in Christchurch getting over the jet lag, we then jumped on the Kiwi Experince bus to Kaikoura. We went out on a boat to go swim with Dolphins in the wild, unfortunatley the sea was too rough for us to get in with the dolphins though we did see loads of them from the boat. We visit Kaikoura again in a couple of weeks so will probably try and swim with them again then.
After Kaikoura we moved on to Nelson and stayed at a really cool hostel. We ended up playing a random drinking game called 'goggles on' with a load of guys we had made friends with. This basically entailed making chicken noises whilst holding your hands to your eyes, sounds straight forward but after a few beers it got bloody confusing, Fuzzy was a mess. The next morning we had to be up at 6am to go to Abel Tasman National Park, getting up was a real struggle. When we arrived, we took a water taxi to the heart of the NP, and then had a 5 hour hike to our camp on Barchs beach. It was hard work cos it was a really hot day but the views were amazing and more than made up for it. Went we arrived at Barch Beach we set up camp and i made a camp fire, and enjoyed some well earned beans and sausages for tea with some posh wine we had all bought at a winery we visited the previous day. Don't think i ever imagined drinking wine with beans and sausages but there we go. We all got up at 6am the next morning to watch the sunrise over the sea, the colours were amaing as you can see from my photo's. Then at 9 am our kayak instructors turned up on the beach to help us kayak the 22km back to the park entrance. This was really hard work, but loads of fun at the same time, we stopped for lunch on a deserted beach which you can only get to by kayak. We also had to wear random costumes they gave us to kayak in, check out fuzzy in his dress, i had to wear a matadors shirt.
The next day we left for West port which is down the west coast of the south island. On the way there we stopped to go Jet boating on the buller river which was a great laugh, got absoluely soaked, i have put a video up for you guys to look at.
The next day we headed for a hostle in the middle of nowehere owned by an 84 guy (Les) who every day puts on a Poo Party (fancy dress) for the Kiwi Experience buses passing through. Our theme was to use plastics bin liners and myself, Tom, Fuzzy and Morten (a lad from Denmark we have made friend with) all went as w****s. The girls at the party had great fun putting make up on each of us. Unfortunately we didn't win the competition as Batman and a horse were the clear winners but we had a great time anyway.
Today i woke up with the worst hangover of my life, i think it was also mixed with Flu after the only showers at the Poo party were freezing cold. Been in bed all day until now since we arrived at Frans Joseph, but thought i would tear myself out of bed for half an hour to update you guys. We have booked to go up onto Frans Joseph Glacier tommorrow for a full day hike, however the weather had been pretty bad so there is a rumour going round that it may be cancelled. We were also ment to do a sky dive this afternoon over the glacier but the weather put an end to that, probably good given the state i have been in today. We are going to try again somewhere else further down the line.
Anyway guys thats it for now, i will update my blog again in about a week.
