Argentinian Taffy´s!!
Speaking Welsh in South America sure is a strange experience! We`ve met loads of Welsh locals - it`s brilliant. They`re all so proud to be Welsh and are all so interested to talk to us about Wales. Made us feel very patriotic!
Porth Madryn probally is the least Welsh of the towns we`ve visited but this still is a real cool place. The Welsh first landed here in 1865 but now days most of the welsh speakers have moved to Gaiman and Trelew. But tomorrow we will go back to Porth Madryn to go to Valdes to do some Whale watching (sure hope no sharks bite into our boat...!)
Gaiman, the smallest town is the most Welsh. We spoke Welsh to the locals and stayed in a place called Gwesty Tywi. We had Welsh tea in Ty Te Cymraeg...loads of cakes and gallons of proper welsh tea...mmm!
Trelew`s also really nice - we happened to walk past Capel Cymraeg Tabernacl when we heard loads of Welsh being spoken! Went in and there was a local coffee morning being held! We met around 10 different welsh speakers, all living in Trelew! so bizare! Also met Cathrin Williams who wrote the Welsh guide book that we`ve been using! great coincidence!
Thought loads about you guys at home whilst being here knowing how much you`d all love to be here. It`s just so amazing!
Monday we are heading down to El Calfate to see the glaciers. Should be good!
Quite a boring blog really, things are much quieter here...which is good, exactly what we needed!
salt and sez x
p.s oh ye having said that it`s been peaceful, we were having a quite stroll to the local chapel in Gaiman when we stumbled accross three dogs doing it! all three of them, all three of them fully involved...............and of course we got a photo!!!
