I walked around the town of Valparaiso, Chile enjoying the pretty & interesting street graffiti.I ate at a cute place, Café del Jardin where a Chilean/Brazilian woman explained to me what I should do.I walked around a bit more then booked my cooking class for the next morning. When I got back to the hostel, I met cool girl named Joanne from Ottowa, Canada in my room who I ended up hanging out w/ for the rest of my stay.
The next day I learned how to make 2 important Chilean dishes from a very good chef, Gonzalo from the Café Vinilo - pebre which is a Chilean salsa and ceviche (raw fish in a lemon/onion sauce). It was fun and interesting but mostly consisted of me chopping up onions and garlic.(My hands stunk of garlic for days later!)I learned how to cut up onion in little squares then was able to eat the pebre on this amazing warm bread and it was so delicious!!I also ate my little cup of tuna ceviche which I didn't love since the tuna was a little strong for me but hopefully my students will get a kick out of the video I took.Back at the hostel I met up w/ Joanne and Daniel, a German guy, & we went down to the pier to find bikes. We didn't find the bikes but we did take a boat & got joined by Nicholas, a French Canadian. He spent the day w/ us and we all took a bus to Viña del Mar.There we ate completos (hotdogs w/ avocado, sour krout and tomatoes & mayo - yuck!Mine was w/out mayo and I filmed it but I didn't like it.)We then walked along the beach all the way to Reñaca. The last day I didn't really do anything.
