My friend Diana met up with me on the Argentinean side of Iguazu and we checked out the little town and enjoyed our time at the best hostel in Argentina complete w/ a huge pool that we never went in!There was a traditional asado (BBQ) at the hostel the first night w/ two carnival dressed samba women & a samba guy who taught us a little samba as well as doing limbo, conga & bridge dances & a boom line dance.
On Thursday we visited 3 countries in one day!We started and ended in Iguazu, Argentina, and then visited the Itaipu dam & Ciudad del Este in Paraguay as well as the Brazilian side of Iguazu falls. We met a future tennis star named Ronaldinho from Colombia on the tour bus and enjoyed our LONG multi-country day a lot.The dam tour was very interesting - Itaipu is a joint venture between Paraguay & Brazil & is the most power producing dam in the world.Ciudad del Este is mostly known as a place to buy cheap electronics so I did buy a $20 water proof Casio watch to replace the one I had that broke already! The view of the falls from the Brazilian side was great! There was also a large group of Paraguayans there who let me try the Paraguayan cold way of drinking the Argentinean hot mate. They use the same herbs in the same kinds of cups using cold water. They call it something like terere.
