Hola!
It´s our last night in Argentina tonight, Wendy is deserting me tomorrow and I´m heading to Chile for a few days. Buenos Aires is awesome. Typical big city but really cool place. We went to the zoo yesterday which was....interesting! All the animals looked depressed but it was a handy stopgap till we went to the Evita museum which was very interesting. It´s a shame there weren´t more English translations but the pictures and video there were really cool.
The last two nights we have hit polar opposites in class! Tuesday we went to Cafe Tortoni to watch a Tango show. Very cool (Bruv you would´ve loved the musicians) and pretty classy really! Loads of very dressed up Argentinians and then me and Wendy in backpacker clothes! It was an awesome show though.
Last night we went to a Boca Juniors game at La Bombonera, that was quite an experience! It was the final of some cup and Boca won on aggregate. The opposition were Arsenal (Which I found highly amusing) and had two players sent off during the match. We were in the standing area underneath the Arsenal fans who, decidedly unhappy at half time (They were losing 1-0) started to piss in cups and throw it at the Boca fans who were giving them grief!! Luckily we were not in the firing line but it got a little scary when they started throwing bits of seats down at us! The whole game was awesome and when it finished (Boca scored with the last kick of the game to make it 2-2) the explosions and fireworks were tremendous. The fans were completely nuts, bouncing all over the place, I was in fear for my life at various points during the game, especially when Arsenal scored! Luckily I was surrounded by gentlemen who made sure I didn´t fall! Although it wasn´t quite Old Trafford it was a crazy experience and the fact that they won a cup probably made it even crazier! Definitely a highlight of the trip.
So that´s it from Argentina, have just made the most bizarre phonecall to the bus company to get my ticket for tomorrow (He didn´t speak English, my Spanish is dodgy) so I THINK I have a reservation but I guess I´ll find out tomorrow!
Adios
