Had a bit of a journey to get to Penang, eventually arriving at midnight last night. The border crossing from Thailand was extremely busy and chaotic due to increased traffic from Chinese New Year.
It is hot and sticky here, far too much for walking round and taking in the sights but nevermind. The old town has some great colonial buildings and the island is renouned for its food options. It is also very proud of it's multi-cultural community, primarily Malay, Chinese and Indian.
We had two full days in Penang and we managed to fit in quite a few sights, despite the heat. Apart from doing lots of walking and looking at the different buildings we visited the old fort, the suprisingly good Penang Museum, visited local markets, took the cable car up Penang Hill and ate in a range of places to try some of the different foods.
