5 countries explored, 1 to go...
Day 53 - 26/11/09 - Hanoi (Vietnam) & Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)
This morning was an early breakfast before Checking out of our hotel and getting a taxi to the airport. We travelled along back roads to the airport, and got very confused along the way! It was a different route than when we took from the airport when we arrived.
Once at the airport, we realised there was not really anywhere to sit as the few seats they had were taken. Our flight was not yet checking in, so we decided to grab a drink and snack and wait near the screen for check in. We were advised by a group of people we helped that we should start a career in helping people read the screen as it was so confusing.
Due to where we were standing, we were able to be first in line for check in (although we had to line up for 15mins while the attendents organised themselves). Once through customs, we had some lunch and boarded our 2:10pm flight to Kuala Lumpur.
After going through Kuala Lumpur customs (they didn't care about us declaring either), we were to be met for a transfer to our hotel. As we walked through, we were unsure of whether we had changed names or not, as none of the signs had our names on them. We made our way over to where the drivers were, and about 5 of them came to help us and figure out who was to be taking us. A driver from the company we booked through called his company and advised us someone was on their way.
Once in the van, it was an hour drive before we got to our 23rd different home (overnight accommodation) of the trip - a huge 5 star hotel room on the 24th floor. We settled in before enjoying dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Day 54 - 27/11/09 - Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)
After breakfast, we went to the 10th floor and enjoyed a swim in the hotel pool which is set in a tropical garden. There was quite a few people enjoying the sun, but it wasn't too busy so we were still able to relax a little.
We walked to Petronas Twin Towers to find that the skybridge between them was not open today, so we will have to go back tomorrow. We ventured into the shopping centre to find some lunch and were quite pleased to find a Nando's!
Once our bellies were filled, we continued to wander the city and decided to stroll to the Malaysia Tourism Centre and check them out. We found some good info and so decided to make our way to Menara KL (KL Tower) - the 4th tallest telecommunication tower in the world. We entered KL Tower and went to the observation deck 276mtrs above ground level and gave amazing views over KL.
It was then time to walk back to our hotel and enjoy a dinner at the hotel's Chinese restaurant. This meal was equally as nice as the meal from the other hotel restaurant last night.
Take care - Jess & Scotty
