We had only one day in Bariloche before we set off again on the long road south. So our journey back to town was leisurely on a beautiful sunny day. One of the main towns of the area is St Martin de los Andes although it is a fair way by unsurfaced road. We had to try to get there so heading off the dusty but scenic road we picked up a woman hitch-hiker who told us it was only 40kms to St Martin. However, after about 80kms of fantastic scenery we came across a sign indicating we had so long to go and then have another 200kms to return to Bariloche. So we had to ditch the hitch-hiker and turn back. We did enjoy a short stop at the picturesque small town of Angostura before heading 'home'.The following day, we had time for lunch at a nice little restaurant on the lakeside before heading for the bus to Rio Gallegos. Bariloche and the Lake District certainly impressed as did Hosteria Marianas and Naan. Lovely, just lovely!E & M xxx
