Breakfast in the square with the mushroom fountain. Today is our first cold and rainy day for the whole trip so we count ourselves lucky! Walked around the back of our hotel to the local market. Lots of lovely food for sale and the occasional clothes and bags stalls. Then off to another market, which is like a big garage sale. The Camberwell Market in the South of France! The girls bought a cuddly each. Off for warmer clothes and a drive to St Remy de Provence. The drive was lovely, meandering through little villages, avenues of big oaks. St Remy is a lovely town, but more touristy than Salon. Lots of upmarket boutiques. Had a fantastic lunch at one of the restaurants just out of the centre. The food (chicken, potatoes, stuffed tomatoes) was like a country style, home cooked meal. Delicious! When the locals are there you know it's good. A walk around St Remy looking for all the Van Gogh sights. A visit to their grand old church. They were preparing for a night time concert by practicing on the magnificent old organ. Beautiful! Long and windy drive through the hills (hold on to your hats people) to Salon. The GPS, although it has been a saviour, just goes bananas sometimes! It has tried to send us down crazy routes and sometimes loses the signal in the middle of a busy intersection just when you need it most! Spent nearly an hour looking for a place to eat. Being Sunday most of the restaurants are closed. Takeaway pizza it is!
