We made it to Bangkok after a very long but luckily uneventful flight on Etihad Sirways via Abudhabi. We managed to check into our rooms early yesterday and promptly all fell asleep around 10am local time and woke up at 8pm...so much for a short nap! We decided to go find some food and walked down to Khao san road where it was very busy with foreigners and locals alike. We decided on a quick pad thai dinner with a few beers ($13 for 5 people!) and just wandered and headed back to the hotel to sleep again at midnighht. I thhink my mom and Amélie slept more then Steve, Léa and I in our kinsize bed so we finally decided to get up at 5am. Léa was excited to spot a monk walking to the temple across the street just after she awoke! (picture is the view fromour hotel room).
Will take a river boat to the heart of town and come back and lounge poolside and nap when the temps rize over 30 this afternoon...and I'm finally going to get a massage today! I have a feeling our 3 days in the city will be pretty low key just trying to adjust to the heat and timezone. Will post again from Chiang mai where we are headed via night trrain on Sunday.

Tante nien sounds good - all that sleeping. Have you found the giant golden reclining (sleeping) buddha?
