Hello and welcome to the Life and Travels of Me.

Maybe 42 is the wrong time of life to suddenly up sticks and move to another country but that's what I did. Only time will tell but living the simple life in a quiet and tranquil part of France seems to be doing me the world of good. By simple, I mean i'm doing the gypsy thing right now and living in an old caravan kindly donated by friends. I'll get around to building something more permanent but I'm also keen to go travelling as much as I can too. I have a limited income now so it's goodbye 5 star luxury hotels and hello tent.

Anyway, it's August now and I'm planning my first solo adventure for September 2011. I'm off from the centre of French France, down through the Pyrenees then off to Morocco on my trusty steed. It may not be the fastest or most stylish but then neither is the rider. I'm hoping to spend lots of time in the saddle but I hope to stop as often as possible to take in the sights and sounds of the places I pass.

My new panniers have arrived so they will be fitted this week, new chain and sprocket kit and new tyres are due to be fitted at the end of the month. A quick bit of servicing to do on me and the bike and then we'll be heading South. Speaking of heading South, must remember to take a map or 2 as my sat nav thinks the world ends at the coast of Spanish Spain.
