once again.. i'm back in Bangkok for the night.
I have been here several times.. and the more people i meet.. the more i hear how everyone completely despises this place. The amount of people, the filth, the busy-chaotic city, the constant interruptions of any meal by someone trying to sell you hand made junk. Yet, each time i arrive here (which must be my 4th time or so) whether it is to catch a connecting bus or a train, i am able to see nothing but comfort and reliability. After going to all these new places for the past couple months.. it is surprisingly refreshing to know where you are going to stay that night, or if it's full.. you know of another place close by. You know how much it should cost for a tuk tuk to take you just about anywhere around the town.. and if you decide you want to walk around, you can do it without getting lost. You feel completely confident in your bartering with the people selling things because you've realized that is sort of a game with them... almost a form of flirting with them (in a non-sexual way).
All these simple things that make a day in Bangkok go so much smoother.. all of these things i am able to do in such a large city. Guaranteed you can go to just about any big city, any place in the world, and people will find something to complain about. Just take it for what it is... Bangkok is the way it is.. because of backpackers like me all doing the same thing.
Of course it is nice to go to these more secluded, less touristy places. But if i have learned one thing so far on this trip of mine... it is that there is a time and place for everything.. don't weigh your mind down with expectations.. you'll miss the experiences.
