hello from Sihanoukville (again)
if you could lose all of your identification, money, and pretty much your existence in another country... cambodia is the place to be. Well more precisely, Sihanoukville, is the town to be in. You wake up to the ocean hitting the front steps of the guesthouse, nevermind the fact it's almost 1 p.m when you actually rise from your room. Forget the morning shower, the morning coffee, the morning hustle and bustle... you grab your book and make your way over to the reclining chair that's been calling your name.
When you've had enough sun.. which is really hard to do, you can walk about 1km to the cinema here in town. Chris, the owner from northern california, usually charges $2 a movie, plus sodas or beers are $1 and snacks are $1.50. Since there is a few of us that have spent so much time here... he will only charges us $2 for anything and everything... even if we stay there all day.
Of course, he is yet another local to offer anything he could to help out my situation until i get my money and passport back.
Including a few games of pool here and there, this includes my daily habits of Sihanoukville. My passport should be arriving in Phnom Penh at the US Embassy in about 2 weeks. Until then, I once again can enjoy il bel far niente.... that's italian for "the beauty of doing nothing".... and man, is it ever.
I believe my next stop after Cambodia, will be Malaysia. I can get a really cheap flight into Kuala Lumpur, probably stay for a couple days and then make my way down to Indonesia finally.
But then again, you all know how often my plans have changed.
ciao!
