After accepting the fact that I just need to wait for my financial problems to be fixed by the company I pretty much did nothing today apart from walk around the town in search for a pen as I'd lost mine (you wouldn't believe how many shops I had to walk in to find one) and grab some food. Today was pretty much a do nothing day whilst I waited for 9 pm to roll round so I could draw out some money!
However, since I was going to be here for another night I thought I would go and take in a showing at the Water Puppet Theatre near to Hoan Kiem Lake. The showing covers a variety of little stories but it is also a depiction of the legend in which King Le Loi was given a magical sword by the gods, in which he used to drive out the invading Chinese. Later, while boating on the lake, he encountered a giant Turtle, which grabbed the sword and carried it down to its depths, returning it to the gods from whom it had come. This sounds a lot like King Arthur...As the entire showing was in Vietnamese I had a rough idea what was going on...due to a little prior research and a tiny pamphlet I discovered in English on the door to the Theatre!
Came back and went walking round the town with the guy from New Zealand from my dorm waiting for 9 pm. It eventually arrived and I came back and booked my tour to Halong Bay starting very early tomorrow morning for the next 3 days. 3 days of Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Bamboo huts on remote islands, Swimming, Cliff Jumping and Sailing on board a Junk called The Jolly Roger...can't wait!
The picture is of one of the scenes from the show, it might be a little bit blurry because I had to take it from a distance in the dark!
