After another late start (this time because I couldn't be bothered to get up) I walked into town to see some of the sights. I eventually managed to get a sightseeing ticket and started walking round. Hoi An operates a system where you need entrance tickets to get into the museums etc and you cannot just buy one you need a booklet which allows you to enter 5 attractions out of the 18 on offer...seems a bit of a rip off to be honest but never mind.
I went into a couple of the meeting houses and to the temple before making my way over to the Japanese bridge. I hadn't realised I had actually walked over it last night and it was much better looking at night than in the daytime. I made it down to the market to buy some fruit after booking my bus and thought I would buy some Chom Chom (the weird red things with green spikes) but I refused to pay the price they wanted. Apparently she reduced it to what she would charge the Vietnamese if they were buying...I don't really believe that but I bought some at the lower price anyway. I can understand why people say that Hoi An is one of the best places to get any tailoring done, some of the garments in the shops are immaculate. It's just a shame I cannot buy anything, I don't fancy carrying things around with me for that long.
This afternoon was pretty much a lazy day, I actually fell asleep for a couple hours when I got back to the hotel. I was on a bit more of a mission tonight to find somewhere to eat which wasn't going to break the bank since I was leaving tomorrow night. I walked down a street called Tran Van Cao which was supposed to have some nice restaurants and I stopped at one called Sunshine (mainly because I wasn't feeling well) and bumped into Rebecca. I met Rebecca the night the Aussies bailed on the drinking session, she was with me in Brown Eyes nightclub. I went and sat down with her and had some Cao Lau which is a Hoi An speciality. It is basically noodles but they are more like al dente pasta than noodles.
We chatted for a bit having a good laugh about how random our night out was and then it got rather late so I went back to the hotel. I had seen the town at night already so didn't feel like I was missing anything. Tomorrow I have to be at the bus ticket office for 5.30 pm so guess tomorrow will be a nothing chilling day yet again. May spend some time sitting by the pool before catching my bus. Really looking forward to Nha Trang.
The photo is of the river and river boats in Hoi An Old Quarter.
