During the day today I will admit I did practically nothing, a lie in was long overdue and I had one!
This evening though, I decided to go to the Singapore Night Safari which is right by Singapore Zoo. Not very central to Central Singapore but a train and a bus will take you straight to the entrance. I thought I would be a little bit early since I left at 5pm but some how it took almost 2 hours to get there?! Anyway, on arrival I sat and had something to eat at the Ulu ulu cafe before getting onto the night tram.
I made the mistake of sitting on the left hand side of the tram when most of the animals I wanted to see were on the right hand side. No flash photography was allowed in the Night Safari so I decided not to take any pictures. My little Cannon is not built very well for photos in the dark so any I started to take came out rubbish! There was an Australian couple behind me who were very nice (from Perth) and I am glad they were talkative for the 40 minute journey. There was a lady at the front who narrated the journey and we had a few 'holy sh*ts' when the driver sped up and then screeched to a halt further down the lane which was funny. We got to see some amazing animals up close in the dark (there was some light or you wouldn't see anything) and it did make you wonder how on earth they just didn't leave their pens and jump over to you or stampede the road.
After the tram ride I went on the walking route which took about an hour to do. I got to see a Clouded Leopard up close who seemed more interested in sleeping despite the banging on the window from some people trying to get it's attention. Also got to see a Malayan Tiger too. I got a little creeped out in the Flying fox and fruit bat area though...they fly WAY too close to me for my liking! The rest of the walking tour was good and I went to see the Creatures of the Night show. The most cheesy show in the world! You should have seen the faces of the people who thought that 10ft Python under the grates had really escaped!
It's been a good start to Singapore but I know I won't fit everything in that I want to.
