Executive Summary - Amsterdam & The Netherlands
Saw: Anne Frank Huis, Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Red Light District (in completely tame fashion, disappointingly), windmills, cheese, Bloememarkt (flower market), canals, coffeshops, "coffeeshops"
Did: Day trip to Alkmaar and Edam, tour of Red Light District, wandered around the city, purchased knitting supplies on a whim
Ate/Drank: cheese, frites & mayo, kroketten (croquettes), haring (herring), jenever (gin-like alcohol made from juniper berries), pannenkoeken (pancakes with banana & chocolate!), appeltaart, rijsttafel (Indonesian banquet). No muffins or brownies.
Favourite part about Amsterdam: Wandering the canal networks and dodging the crazy bicycles.
Least favourite part about Amsterdam: The travellers there were all in groups (bucks shows, or guys weekends, mostly...wonder why?!) and so it was the most difficult place to meet people thus far.
Life-altering revelation which has contributed to my search for universal truth: Gouda is made from whole milk and Edam is made from skim milk.
Current career thought: Clog-wearing cheese salesperson.
