I was up early this morning. Went to use the loo and realized it was blocked. Had been blocked the last time I used it too. Not very nice. They're going to fix it today so here's hoping. I jumped on the underground and headed into the city to Harrods. I just wish I'd checked what time it opened. I got there nine thirty and it opened at ten. That was okay, I got myself a coffee and wandered the streets for a bit. I was almost lost but by the time I wanted to head back to Harrods, I turned a corner and there it was. I'd been heading in circles. It's hard to tell here.
Harrods is... Wow. You'd never need to shop anywhere else. It has everything. I spent over three hours looking around and could easily have spent longer even skipping all the makeup and perfume I was getting exhausted.
I caught the underground to Leicester Square where I stopped for lunch. I think I must have used up all my adventurous spirit for the day because I had Subway for lunch.
I had thought I might head to the London Eye this afternoon but it was rather overcast so I gave it a miss. Instead I bought a half price ticket for We Will Rock You tonight. Good seats too.
Next I headed toward Covent Garden. I was watching an ex Cirque de Soleil performer. He was Australian and funny as well as fantastic. Then I wandered the shops and had to restrain myself from buying everything that caught my eye. Really it was only the Disney store that had anything I couldn't get at home. It was nice though. I made the mistake of heading back to my hotel before the show tonight. I got on the train going the wrong direction and ended up in rush hour traffic. I got my dinner on the way home and had a rest. They'd fixed the loo which was good.
Around six thirty I headed out again. The underground was quieter this time and I made it to the theatre in plenty of time.
We Will Rock You isn't as good as Wicked. It's really funny and well done and it doesn't even matter that it clearly isn't as big a show as Wicked and the set wasn't nearly as elaborate, but the music is just too loud. It was almost painful and drowned out the singing. Which wouldn't be too much of a problem because they are all the fantastic old Queen songs everyone knows but they've changed the words and it tells part of the story. When they aren't singing the show is brilliant though. Really had me in stitches in some places. I had to stick my earphones in during part of the performance and that brought the volumes down to a reasonable level.
I had to listen to Queen the whole trip back. You can't go to a show like that and not want to. The trip was fine except the underground is really warm and outside is really cold.
