Today it was on the bus at eight thirty with a local guide. We went first to Notre Dame. We risked parking tickets to get the bus to drop us off as close as it did.
I loved the cathedral. It wasn't quite as imposing during the day as it was lit up at night but it was still incredible. I liked that you could see the bare stone for the walls. It wasn't decorated to the last inch. The stained glass windows were incredible too. I took pictures but I don't know how well they turned out.
Then we risked another ticket and jumped back on the bus for a driving tour around some of the sites of Paris. We were able to stop at the Eiffel and take picture but we didn't go up as the line was just incredible. Not worth the long wait. Around eleven thirty the guide dropped us off at a restaurant for lunch and at twelve Patricia picked people up for the optional excursion to Versailles. I didn't go so I had a few hour to wander Paris. Ingrid invited me to spend the afternoon with them. She's a travel agent and has been to Paris before so she was able to navigate the metro and get us to La Fayette, and incredibly expensive shopping mall. Seven floors and the ceiling was beautiful stained glass.
We went straight to the top floor and checked out the view of the city. Just amazing. It stretched out on all sides as far as you could see.
Then we went back down fir a bit of shipping. I use the turn loosely. I found a beautiful coat and jeans that I just loved. I check the price of the jeans. Almost a thousand Euro. I was too scared to look at the price if the coat. The other found some things they liked. Mostly makeup and perfume. There were some incredibly good deals. Katherine got a hundred euro perfume for thirty. And they were giving samples away as well. So they actually came away with quite a bit. Also Ingrid had a voucher to get a freebie from the store if you spend over a certain amount and because we were a party of five I got one too. It was only supposed to be one but the lady was so lovely. I've noticed French people either love you and can't do enough for you or don't want to know you.
Then we took the metro again to another shopping district, this one in much more my price range. I didn't get any chance to look around though because after a wonderful lunch with the girls I had to catch the metro back to another excursion. I feel quite proud of myself for navigating the paris metro. Good practice for London.
Meeting up with the others we drove to Mont Martre with the beautiful Sacred Heart cathedral. I was more impressed by all the artists that were out on the streets selling their works. I loved just wandering around looking at what they had.
After a good look around he headed back to the hotel to get ready for our farewell dinner. This should have been the last time we would all be together as a group. But it was such a small group that decided to come. Very disappointing. Bit it was still a lovely group and we had a fantastic time. A couple of the girls got up and did the Can Can. Very funny. After a dew drinks everything was funny. It was a really good night. The best way to end the tour.
