We arrived in KL pretty late so just headed straight to our hostel. We stayed at Reggae Mansions which is advertised as a backpackers party hostel. Outside our room the sign stated 'party and music dorms' which after feeling so ill did scare me a little, but it was fine. We had our own pods in our room, the tops bunks were soo high but luckily we got the bottom. Shared our room with a Canadian guy called Jason.
Our first morning we spent in the hostel, doing laundry etc. Sarah had then booked us in for afternoon tea at Atmosphere 360 which was at the top of Menara Towers. It moved around whilst we ate and we had great views of the city and Patronas Towers. Afternoon tea wasn't as good as we are used to but we made the most of it staying our full 2 hours of buffet time! By the time we came out it was nearly dark so we headed towards the Patronas Towers, they look so much better in the dark. We managed to get some really cool photos. We did feel like celebrities as all the Malaysian guys kept wanting photos with us, it did get quite annoying. Chelsea ending up saying 'fine one more selfie' I feel it went to her head haha.
Once back at the hostel we decided to make the most of the cinema (if we wrote them a review we got a free film). We watched Flight and managed to rope 3 other guys in the hostel to watch it with us.
The following day I had to head out early to get to the Thai embassy to get my visa (I already had one but they stamped it when I flew in to fly into cambodia :( I nearly cried). I was very proud of myself as managed to flag down a taxi and wait at the embassy by myself for 2 hours. We were meant to go on the 7 wonder of Kuala Lumpur but I didn't get back in time and Chels was poorly again so we rearranged for the following day. So Sarah and I spent the day with Jason, he has been KL before so we used him as our tour guide. Went for a wander around china town then hopped on the Metro to go to Times Square. The shopping centre had a roller coaster in it which was pretty cool! That evening we still weren't up for drinking so the same 6 of us as last night watched another film, such party animals.
We visited the 7 wonders of Kuala Lumpur, we visited a Chinese temple. It gave us our fortunes (I've uploaded my fortune to my photos). We then visited the Royal Palace, there is 9 royal families in Malaysia and they take it in turns through election to live in the main palace. For lunch we went to a vegetarian Indian restaurant, we had a selection of different Indian dishes which was cool. Then off to climb up 300 stairs to the Batu caves, the gold statue of Lord Murugan was so impressive, the caves weren't! They were dirty inside and looked like a cattle shed not that impressive. Afterwards we visited a war monument, mosque and independence square. They showed us where they raised the British flag for the last time in the 50's.
That evening as it was Halloween they showed us a free showing of 'the conjuring' in the cinema. I'm really not a fan of scary films so spent most of the time covering my eyes. We then got ready and headed up to the roof top bar for the Halloween. It was such a good night, ending in McDonald's at 5am classy!!
Ours hangovers the next day were not good, we didn't have to get our bus until 4pm so we just hung out with Jason until he flew off to Thailand. The bus journey was actually really good, with reclining chairs and took 4 hours to get to Butterworth in Penang. Checked into a cheap hotel, we were starving but the rain was so heavy we couldn't walk anywhere, the hotel asked her friend to give us a lift to the good court. We ate there while he waited for us then he drove us back. Malaysian people are so friendly!! Off to George Town in the AM.x
