Our next stop is George Town, a city on Penang Island. We got a ferry across from Butterworth which cost us all of 20p. We hadn't booked a hostel in George Town so headed to the mall to find wifi in Starbucks so we were able to research a few places. Found another Reggae mansions (same place we stayed in in KL). Had a room of four so it meant someone had to take the top bunk after rock, paper, scissors it was decided it would be me :(. The top bunk is so high have to climb up into your pod and very difficult to get down from.
That afternoon we went to the Mall and had some sushi as it's Sarah's favourite. We then headed to a bar and hung out for a bit before heading back to our hostel.
The following day we hired bicycles out to explore the city and see all the street art, it was a bit like Banksy. It was really hot cycling around so had to stop at cafes to get a break from the heat. That evening we cycled around and found a food court called The Red Garden. Every stall had different foods from different countries. It was cheap too! We met some people we knew from Kuala Lumpur so sat with them for the evening.
The day after has to be one of my favourite days!! We had our bags packed ready to check out, then the guys we had spent the previous evening with, asked us if we wanted to hire scooters with them and drive to the beach. We were also going there but we were going to get a taxi, this option seemed way more fun!! In total there were 10 of us, so we hired 7 scooters, a right biker gang! We all set off with the aim of staying together but of course Chelsea and I lost everyone within 5 minutes. They all drove off whereas we got stuck behind in traffic and had no idea where to go. I had only driven in quiet towns before so the city was very different and we were unsure how to change lanes. This resulted in us going round the one way system a few times. Some guy on a scooter shouted to follow him as he had seen our friends so we did, he helped us manoeuvre through the traffic. We stopped at a place where he had seen everyone but they had gone on. It was still really helpful of him!! We eventually got on the right road and found our way to Batu ferringhu. We then went on to meet all the others and we got a boat across to monkey beach.
On monkey beach we decided to get jet ski's out, I went on the back with Chelsea. She has driven them before so was very confident, I really enjoyed it until we took a corner really fast and I wasn't able to hold on and flew off the side. I was still holding Chelsea's go pro when I landed in the water, which I was impressed with. I definitely felt winded, the guy who owned the jet ski's came out to see if I was alright, he described me as a flying angel haha. Chelsea was wetting herself. I then attempted to drive the jet ski but really didn't like it so handed it back to chels. Enjoyed some lovely chicken satay on the beach, I have been having this everywhere!
That evening we headed to Red Garden again then off to a bar where we all did some karaoke, very entertaining.
In the morning it is back to Kuala Lumpur for me to grab my passport for the embassy and meet Ash :)
