We were late up to breakfast & a bit confused when we entered the restaurant to an empty terrace no busy staff, no guests, coffee steaming from the pots & food at the table but nobody there! Being the worrier I am I panicked & said we needed to go back to the room I had visions of all sorts spinning through my head! A security man burst through from kitchen shouting in Spanish on a radio, Kurt looked over the balcony to see almost all the hotel in the square below! As we got down to reception everyone was returning back inside we had no idea what had happened presuming it to be a fire drill we returned to breakfast! We had a chilled afternoon in the sunshine walking around a few parks & looking at some museums then we got an Uber through the city to meet Angus & Clara at their restaurant called the londonburro, the ride was pretty mad we didn’t have a clue where we were going & the driver took some dodgy short cuts to avoid traffic! Angus had their two dogs with him they were cute & really made me miss Hugo! He ordered us a mixture of Tex Mex dishes & we tried the traditional michelada drink which was disgusting ha! Kurt politely drank he’s it was a Cerveza in tomato juice with extra sauces, spices & peppers in a salt rimmed glass! Clara joined us after work & we decided to head to a different part of the city they wouldn’t let us pay at the restaurant which was so kind of them both Kurt just tipped the waitresses instead! We got a taxi to the condesa area of the city which had tree lined avenues smart bars & a European feel to it! Angus took us to a bar which he has been drinking in since he came to Mexico City we met his fellow ex pats & had a right laugh, especially when they started chatting about the earthquake siren that had gone off this morning, it was around breakfast time & was 5.2 on the scale which is obviously what our mysterious ghostly breakfast was about & we had no idea! Ha! We had already booked a trip to the pyramids the following day so tried to be sensible but uno mas (one more) was said quite a lot we had a great night!
