Hola chicos!!!
I am counting down the days now, only a week to go as the laundry girl!!! As the end of the season approaches, eveyone is becoming a little less rigid (arrivinf 10 minutes early for lunch etc.) and if you walk around the island youre likely to find someone hiding in the colourful moroccan tent, chatting in the staff room, or hanging out in the cave. Lee-Ann and Pieere were away for almost two weeks and is a big part of the reason we were becoming so slack. I have very little work (just uniforms and cleaning cloths for a while there - ive rewashed all the towels, covers, sheets and everything already) so have plenty of ttime to do my own personal washing (job perk - one of the only ones!!). I have scrubbed the laundry clean to within an inch of its life and have given the girls a hand in polishing anything and everything remotely metal on the island (not much work in the house either). So work is ok, we may have clients coming in the last week (although that could be a ruse to motivate us to work harder..).
Outside of work life is good!! I recently went to a discoteche (club) during the day (matinèe session) very surreal, clubbing with sunnies on! Unfortunately it was a gay party, so although there were about 2000 cute topless guys there (the club could hold about 4000 people - a bit bigger that home, hey?) they were all there with their cute topless boyfriends..After Space (the club) we went to Bora Bora, a beach next to a club that plays loud enough music for the beachgoers to dance to (sort of like and outdoor, free club!) Planes fly overhead quite close there and every one cheers when they pass over. My last weekend was very interesting!! Franco, Suni and I went to watch Hernan (one of the Equadorian gardeners from the island) and his band play traditional Equadorian music in Eivissa. The event turned out to be some sort of festival thing . A stage was set up in the middle of a street and the show began witrh people dressed in traditional Ibizencan cloths marching the streets to the stage. They then performed a traditional Ibizencan dance, which is probably the most hilarious thing i have ever seen! It consisted of the men imperiously clicking their clicker things (the hand held instruments that you click...cant remember the name) at the women to make them come out and dance before jumping around the stage kicking their legs dangerously high (im suprised none of the women got killed) in an apparently routineless dance. The women timidfly (heads down, hands holding skirt) scuttled around the stage trying to avoid the men (and their wilding flaying limbs!!). The dance was accompanied by traditional sweet bread and sangria, served by a priest (a priest with a cigarette dangling between his lips serving sangria..hmmm) Very bizarre!! Hernan was really good when is band finally played- the music was great!! After this strange event, we moved on to figurettes, where i got giver a blow up kangaroo by some english girl on her hens night (she was marrying an aussie) which is now in my room (called it skippy..original hey!) . We then went to sant antonio which has basically no spanish people. I felt like i was in th UK, no one `spoke spanish, so i had to translate for suni instead of the other way around (i use the term translate loosely, suni and i speak our own brand of language called ´spanglish´and is quite complicated and funny!). It was very different, but we had a good night and got home at 7am!! I spent the day in eivissa with suni, caye, audrey and some of the other guys and then had a very early night!!! I went to st euralia the other night with audrey, caye, domingo and israel and we had dinner at an indian place and it was a lot of fun. We were speaking english, spanish and french (audrey is french) and in was hilarious!! Last night i went to a hippy market with suni, but it closed as we arrived, so we will go again next week, but we went into santa gertudis after and had tapas (traditional spanish meal snacks) with audrey and caye.
So i am having fun, but definately looking forward to leaving!!!! I cannot wait to see clare, she will be the first familair face ive seen in about 5 months!! crazy!! Lots of love to everyone, i miss you all and not long til i see you all again!
