Hey guys,
So after arequipa we travelled in our group to nazca, where they have the famous lines drawn in pre inca tims that were pretty cool, they seem to reflect both the route for water and they have also copied the stars in many ways. They were pretty interesting and we went to a plantarium to learn more about them, after relaxing by the pool of course!!! naza is at 0 altitude which means the weather is once again hot !
AFter nazca we travelled via pisco ( and tried out a pisco sour factory) to lima. Lima is pretty cool it has a cool park in milarflores right on the ocean which is amazing, and this is where i lef the group ( in lima i mean not the park )! I then flew to puerto maldonado and headed into the jungle, the two nights and three days i spent in the jungle were amazing !.
The guide picked me up from the airport and we travelled in their bus to the headquarters, there were two other groups with us a family of five and a gap group ! although i ended up being the only one wih a guide all to myself, i think they had paid to have a guide for each of their groups which meant i had one to myself! We then dropped off some of the other peoples luggage at the main headqurters as youa rent meant to take that much into the rainforest and then made an hours trip to a boat. We then took a very narrow canoe style boat up the river to our lodge on the way we saw some red howling monkes, the largest rodent in the world ( abou the size of a pig ) and loads of different birds. I couldnt believe the lodge when we arrived it was absolutely mazing, they provided us wih welly boots as they had just finished there rainy season and showed us to our rooms , which only had three sides so you could look out into the jungle !
On the second day we woke up at 4 had breakfast and set out in a boat around a lake, we saw a toucan woodpeckers tarachalas parotts and a small snake, we also got a glimpse of an electric eel! it was massive ! . We then stopped at one sie of te lake and went piranaha fishing , i caught one, they were v easy to catch all it took was a bit of chicken on the end of your line! they went that big but apparently deadly if you went in the water even with a graze.although after a girl drpped her sunglsses in a guide went in to save them, apparntly he had no cuts ! I also managed to see som more monkeys b4 we haded back. we then took a visit to the tower which is about thirty stories of stair high , you climb up and can see over the tops of the trees it is an awesome view! I also managed to see two mor monkeys outside my room swinging from tree to tree !pretty amazing !
The whole experience was amazing and everyhting from the people to the food to the hotel was really superb i couldnt have asked for a better jungle experience ( my next trip is defo going to be to the north of brasil(which is my fav country so far) and into the rainforest there as well).
im now in puerto maldonado, just outside the rianforest for one more night b4 i had back via lima to santiago and then on to aus!
love to all at home
