Finch Hatton Gorge
1662 KM11 September 2011
I feel I must let my readers know that I think I am finally better.Having suffered from food poisining all the way back in Vietnam, 2 months later, 2 courses of antibitoris later, several rehidration sachets, 5 glucose sachets, 10s of litres of water, no dairy or fatty foods and a fair amount of weight loss later.... I think I am finally better!
Having driven straight from Arlie Beach last night and arriving in the dark we unfortunatley didn't have much choice over campsites. The one we ended up in charged $20, had no power (anywhere) and no hot water.EXCELLENT!! After all, that is why we drove the extra dstance to stay there!Nevermind hey!We have done so well with campsites along the way - only paying for 1 really - we didn't mind.
We embarked upong the 5KM Walk to the 'Wheel of Fire' and 'Araluen Falls'.Araluen Falls were beautiful and very rocky. We perched on a rock and took in the place. Perhaps contrastingly so, I find a raging waterfall so peacefull and thought provoking.A seriously steep walk up many steps and rocks we reached Aral uen.Oh my.I clambered over the large rocks to drape myself in the sunshire.Sam took off his top and prepared to jump into hte very deep plung pool.Having naively not tested the temperature of the water he bombed into the middle. His head burst back through the water and his shreeks confused me as to whether he had hit a rock or injured himslef.... thankfully, neither of the above. The water turned out to be colder that liquid ice and it had snapped his breath away!He joined me on my rock to warm up!
