The campsite in Salta wasn´t the greatest. It didn´t actually seem like a real campsite, it just has a huge swimming pool, which unfortunately it was empty, a a few patches of grass to camp around, so had a do a few activities to get away from there.
On our second day we went to this really gorgeous farm house belonging to a local famiy to go horseriding for the morning. The people and the gauchos (cowboys) were lovely. We got breakfast when we arrived and then headed off on the ride.
My horse was gorgeous and we got to ride for about 4 hours through the surrounding fields with the Andes in the background and through the little town. We even managed to have a little gallop which was fun. When we came back from the ride, they had prepared lunch for us which consisted of lots of meat (obviously) salads, potatos and red wine. All in all it was a great day.
Arriving back at the campsite in the early evening we ended up chilling out with an Argentinian family who were also staying there, playing the guitar, singing, eating and trying to talk a little Spanish.
The next day was another adventure filled day. Very early we drove out to the mountains and rivers for white water rafting and canopy zip-lining. First of we did the rafting, which was quite tame (only grade 2 & 3) but really gorgeous and we did flip our raft twice so that was pretty fun. Although I did receive a scratch very close to my eye on the 2nd flip. We all got very wet and very cold when in the shade. Went back to base and again they provided us with a lovely meaty lunch.
afterwards we got kitted out in helmet and harness for the ziplinig. We trekked up one mountain side finally reaching the 1st zipline. It was pretty scary-so high up in the mountain and very long, across to the side of the mountain opposite. We were briefed on how to sit and how to stop, then were let go to fly across. It was amazing, real adrenaline rush. the 2nd zipline I went superman stlye, which basically involved being attached to a guide while lying on my front. He was attached to the zipline and as we flew back across to te other mountain I was just hanging down on my front, arms out and screaming a hell of a lot. Again though it was really fun. In total we did 4 ziplines, all very fast and sun, then went back to camp.
