Hello Everyone,

We are escaping the afternoon heat to back-up some of our photos... we have free email and computers in our hotel so we are taking advantage of that. This is the nicest hotel we've stayed in yet, and only costs $9 a night!

Anyway we are still in Siem Reap, it is a very nice town, a bit more relaxed than Thailand which is nice. The tuk-tuk drivers and people trying to sell us stuff are not as aggressive as in Thailand which is a welcome change. We spent all of yesterday at Angkor Wat, it is pretty amazing. We hired an official guide yesterday (shared with two girls from Ireland) so we would actually know what we were looking at, and it was very informative and helpful to hear all the history and stories. At the end of the day we hiked up a mountain hoping to see an amazing sunset but instead we got a thunderstorm! We got down the mountain just in time before getting soaked!

Today we got up at 4:30am to see the sunset there! Our tuk tuk driver picked us up before 5am, and it was a pretty good view, lots of people up at that hour! Then we toured around for about 5 hours before it got too hot. There is so much to see there though it is quite overwhelming. After coming back for a quick nap, we wandered around the Old Quarter; there is definately a French influence here. Our favourite part of that is the french desserts! We found a wonderful cafe with amazing desserts and ice-cream.. Been going there every day, there is so much to try! We are being picked-up in an hour by a tuk-tuk to go to Angkor Wat to try for a sunset again. The weather looks okay right now and hopefully it will hold up, as the sunsets are supposed to be amazing there. Then we are planning to have dinner with our New York friend who is staying in the same hotel as us.

Tomorrow morning we are headed to the bus station to take a long bus ride (6-7 hours) to Phenom Phen. Jo-Anne (a family friend) is picking us up and has kindly invited us to stay with her and show us around, so we are looking forward to that! Well that is about it for now, hopefully we can get some of our Angkor photos up soon! Thanks for the messages everyone, hope all is well at home!
